Voters told of key dates ahead of general election

Voters are being reminded of the key dates that may affect them ahead of the General Election taking place on Thursday, 12 December.

Notice of the Election for the Clacton constituency was published today (Friday, 8 November) by Acting Returning Officer Ian Davidson.

Potential candidates have until 4pm on 14 November to submit their nomination papers.

People have until 26 November to register to vote in the upcoming election if they are not already registered.

The deadline for postal vote applications is at 5pm on the same date. Voters have until 4pm on 4 December to apply for a proxy vote.

Mr Davidson encouraged people to register to vote so they had the option of exercising their democratic right.

“You can only vote if you are registered, so if you want to have your say in the upcoming election please make sure you can by registering by 26 November,” he said.

“It only takes five minutes to register, and you can do so online. Alternatively you can call up our team who will be happy to help you.”
