A vineyard in Ardleigh is set to grow its business after being given the green light to expand facilities.
A scheme for the site in Coggeshall Road involves putting up a new barn to store equipment as well as a new glasshouse to propagate vines, shrubs and trees.
Tendring District Council (TDC) has granted planning permission for the application which also includes removing some older large glasshouses.
The Council’s policy is to promote a strong rural economy and help such enterprises expand through converting existing buildings or creating well-designed new ones.
A Council spokesman said: “This proposal is to provide the necessary facilities to support and grow the existing vineyard business.
The removal of a large expanse of unused and dilapidated glasshouses will declutter the landscape and improve the visual amenity.”
Ardleigh Parish Council made a number of observations about the plans but there were no letters of objection.
