Veterans’ tea dance returns next month

A tea dance for military veterans is returning to the Princes Theatre next month.

Organised by the Clacton branch of the Royal British Legion, and supported by Tendring District Council (TDC), the event welcomes all veterans to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and light refreshments.

TDC had indicated it was looking at running something different for veterans after several successful years of the tea dance, but after feedback from attendees on their preferred event it has been agreed to stick with the tried and tested format.

The event is aimed at Second World War veterans, though other veterans are being invited to attend through the Royal British Legion branch.

Dan Casey, President of the Clacton Royal British Legion, said it promised to be a fun afternoon.

“The tea dance is a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones, and to enjoy a pleasant afternoon in the company of comrades,” he said.

“I would like to thank TDC for their support, because without them this event would not be able to go ahead.”

Dan Land, TDC Chairman, said he was looking forward to the event.

“I can’t wait to attend my first veterans’ tea dance to soak up the atmosphere and meet some of those incredible people who served our country in the Armed Forces.”
