Clacton Town Hall lit up blue for nurses and midwives

Tendring District Council (TDC) has shown its support for nurses and midwives across the world by lighting up one of its buildings last night (Tuesday, 12 May).

The ‘Light Up Blue’ campaign aims to showcase and celebrate the healthcare professions, and took place on the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

Dan Land, TDC Chairman, said this was one way the council could pay its respects to the professionals.

“We often quite rightly recognise the doctors on the NHS frontline. However, this event helps promote nursing and midwifery as careers and the importance of these staff within the workforce", Cllr Land said.

“That’s why Florence Nightingale is such an important figure through her skills and commitment to nursing and midwifery today, especially during these challenging times.”
