Cheque presented to Tendring Transport

A community organisation has received a £1,100 boost after fundraising by the Tendring District Council (TDC) Chairman.

Tendring Community Transport runs a disabled-accessible door-to-door service across the district, including a hospital hopper, dial-a-ride and days out for groups.

Ray Hansen, Chairman of the charity, received a cheque for £1,100 from TDC Chairman Mark Platt last week.

The money had been raised at the Chairman’s Quiz Night, held in the Princes Theatre earlier in the year.

Councillor Platt said it was an honour to hand over the money.

“Tendring Community Transport provides such a wonderful service to people right across the district, and I hope this donation will help them to carry on that good work,” Councillor Platt said.

“The Quiz Night, organised by Adrian Robinson from the Lions Club, was such a fun evening and a real success in raising funds for local charities.”

Mr Hansen added his thanks to all those who took part in the quiz.

“This money will certainly boost our coffers and support us to keep running our service, which not only offers a practical solution to those who struggle to get around or to appointments but by doing so tackles social isolation.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in the quiz, bought raffle tickets and the like to enable this donation.”
