A special edition of a talking newspaper has been recorded to mark the 40th anniversary and 2000th edition of Tendring Talking Times (TTT).
TTT volunteers record news stories from the local papers onto memory sticks which are sent out to more than 150 blind and partially sighted people across the District every week.
Tendring District Council (TDC) Chairman Cllr Mark Platt visited the studio to see the operation in action.
“I was delighted to visit the studio and meet the Chairman of TTT, Hollis Drake and the team of volunteers that provide this invaluable service to the residents of Tendring,” he said.
“Having links myself with people who are sight-impaired or blind, I know only too well the difference that a service such as this can bring to their lives and it was an honour to be part of the 40th anniversary and 2000th edition.”
Anyone interested in signing up to the service can contact Hollis Drake on 01206 393037, or to find out more about becoming a volunteer, contact Nick Lee on 01255 821163.
