A development of four homes on a grassed site in Tendring has been refused because the location is not sustainable.
Tendring District Council (TDC) refused the scheme for Pilcox Hall Lane where there are few services or facilities.
The land is outside the village settlement boundary and while Tendring Parish Council did not object, it did raise a number of issues and observations about the proposal.
TDC also received four letters of objection to the outline application from residents.
TDC’s Tree and Landscape Officer was also concerned that the development would compromise trees covered by a tree preservation order.
