Proposals for a development of up to 950 new homes along with a health centre, primary school and shops in west Clacton have been approved.
The Rouses Farm scheme from Persimmon Homes looks to develop land off of St John’s Road, running behind homes to the west of Jaywick Lane. An access to the development will be provided to both roads.
Tendring District Council’s Planning Committee approved the proposals during a meeting last night (May 30).
Councillors heard there were only four objections to the plans, with the issues raised being adequately addressed by the developers, and that the scheme complied with the emerging Local Plan.
An agreement will need to be reached with the developer about the provision of affordable housing, land for a healthcare facility and primary school and other contributions to community amenities, before planning permission is granted.
As the application was for outline plans and access, final details of the design, layout and landscaping will be subject to a future planning application.
