Plans For Homes On War Memorial Hall Site Rejected

Monday, 8 January, 2018

Tendring District Council (TDC) has rejected plans for three new homes to be built on the site of Ramsey War Memorial Hall once it is demolished.

An outline application was submitted for the scheme on 0.14 hectares of land on Church Hill.

Under a previous scheme, approval has been granted for a new hall at Wix Hall, around 775 metres to the west.

Ramsey and Parkeston Parish Council supported the proposal and there were no other letters of representation.

However, TDC decided that the site is outside the settlement development boundary and goes against its policies to protect the countryside setting. These aim to restrict new development to the most sustainable sites.

There would need to be special justification to approve the plans and the Council felt that none had been put forward.
