Alternative parking is to be looked into for Clacton seafront residents affected by large-scale events.
Mick Skeels, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, agreed to task officers to investigate options following a question posed during a full meeting of Tendring District Council (TDC) last night (Tuesday, May 15).
The plight of residents on Marine Parade West was raised, with vehicle access to their homes often blocked off when large events, such as the Clacton Airshow or the Corbeau Seats Rally Tendring and Clacton take place.
Cllr Skeels said it was an excellent idea to provide alternative car parking for the residents while such events take place.
“These residents have always been so accommodating of such events, which are of great importance to our tourist economy in Tendring,” he said.
“I will ask Tendring District Council’s parking team to work with the North Essex Parking Partnership to find a way to help these residents to have access to better options during these events, and will work with ward councillors to ensure measures put in place are effectively communicated to those affected.”
