Panto cast with patient Angel on the Children's Ward

Stars of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs brought smiles to the faces of patients and staff at Colchester Hospital at the weekend.

Snow White (Jessica Daugirda), the Prince (Charlie Ward) and Trixie the Pixie (Clare Sloane), part of the cast at this year’s Princes Theatre pantomime, visited the Children’s Ward on Saturday (16 November) to spread some festive cheer.

They were also joined by stand-in dame and the Princes Theatre General Manager for Marketing Billy Harvey as they did their ward round with a difference.

The visit, an annual trip for panto cast at the Tendring District Council-run theatre, was organised with volunteer Graham Appleton, Children’s Services Fundraising Co-ordinator.

Mr Appleton said it was always a pleasure for the hospital to be visited by the panto cast.

“Although the Children’s Ward is well set-up to keep youngsters entertained, having a visit like this is always a great way to make young patients’ day and give them something other than being in hospital to think about.

“It becomes a talking point, and I hope the cast will continue to come back every year.”

Mr Harvey added: “Pantomime is all about spreading some cheer, and it’s great that the cast were able to come off the stage and bring some fun to the ward.

“It was lovely to see the smiles from the children as they got to meet Snow White and the other characters, and hopefully we brightened up their day. A big thank you goes to Graham and the staff for having us and for all the fantastic work they do.”

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, produced by Anton Benson Productions, also stars singing sensation Linda Nolan as the Wicked Queen, The Bill’s Graham Cole as Herbert the Henchman and Britain’s Got Talent star Graeme Mathews as Wally.

Performances take place from 7 December 2019 until 1 January 2020, and tickets can be bought online at or by calling the Box Office on 01255 686633.
