A study looking at the impact of Brexit on Tendring will not be carried out by the District Council – but officers will continue to monitor the situation.
Neil Stock, Tendring District Council (TDC) Leader, said in an answer to a question put at full council tonight that it was too early to study the impact as there was still much uncertainty.
“At this stage it would be premature to undertake an impact study as the full details of Brexit are not yet known,” he said.
“I will ask officers to prepare a briefing note on Brexit for members when we have more detail and the impacts, positive and negative, can be assessed.”
Possible impacts of Brexit on Tendring could include potential new trade agreements for import and export businesses, regulatory activity such as port inspections, and changes to funding for the economy and environment.
