People of all ages tried their hand at various activities during a fun-filled open day at Clacton Leisure Centre.
A number of taster sessions were held, in sports ranging from badminton and basketball to tennis and walking netball, as well as dance and gym classes and fun-fill antics in the pool.
More than 500 people attended the event, which took place from 10am-3pm on Saturday, June 9, at the Tendring District Council-run leisure centre.
Mick Skeels, Tendring District Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, said it was brilliant to hear so many people had come along.
“Our leisure centre open days are a great way for people to try out a number of different activities, and also have a taster of what their local centre can offer them,” he said.
“By encouraging youngsters from an early age to get to know their leisure centre, even if it is just having their face painted to begin with, we can hope they will take up physical activity later in life to help them stay fit and healthy.”
Members of the Walton-on-the-Naze community are invited to a fun day at the town’s Lifestyles leisure centre next weekend.
Free face painting, first aid demonstrations, gym challenges, pool fun and a tombola and raffle all feature at the event, taking place at the Tendring District Council-run centre on Saturday, June 16, from 10am-3pm.
The pool activities include inflatable fun, a swimming masterclass, and aquacise for parents and under-fives.
Money raised from the tombola and cake sale will go towards the Tendring District Council (TDC) chairman’s charities.
