The total amount raised for MacMillan Cancer Support across Tendring District Council’s (TDC) various sites has topped the £2,500 mark.
Coffee mornings, and cake sales were staged at sports and leisure centres in Clacton, Walton, Brightlingsea, Harwich, Dovercourt and Manningtree on Friday.
The events were supported by staff, Councillors and members of the public.
TDC’s Sheltered Housing organised their own fundraiser – which included a raffle – at Belmans Court in Dovercourt and raised an amazing £1,370 at the site.
A cake sale at the Council’s Weeley Offices brought in almost £100 and there was a similar event at the Clacton Northbourne Road depot which collected around £55..
This was all on top of the £420 raised at Chairman Mark Platt’s coffee morning in the parlour at Clacton Town Hall.
Walton on the Naze Lifestyles brought in £205.50; Clacton Leisure Centre £202.98; Harwich Sports Centre £81.52; Brightlingsea Sports Centre £50.64; Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles £44.69 and Manningtree Sports Centre £25.
Cllr Platt said: "This is a really fantastic effort all round and I would like to thank and congratulated all those who contributed in any way."
