The St George’s flag will be flown at Clacton Town Hall on St George’s Day after councillors agreed to the move.
A motion was passed by Tendring District Council (TDC) earlier this week (Tuesday, July 3) agreeing to raise the flag of St George, England’s patron saint, on his saint day – April 23.
The Union flag is flown as standard, but is replaced with a special flag for Armed Forces Day, Merchant Navy Day and Commonwealth Day – and now for St George’s Day.
Clacton Town Hall has also been flying the St George’s Flag on days England is playing in the 2018 football World Cup, in support of the national team.
The motion passed by councillors also agrees to TDC officers drawing up a protocol for future flag raising requests, and to ensuring the Town Hall can fly more than one flag on any given day.
