Parliamentary Election

The Electoral Commission's website contains important information and guidance for candidates considering standing for election, which we recommend that all prospective candidates read.

Candidates wishing to stand for election will need to submit nomination papers to the Acting Returning Officer during the official nomination period before the election. Nomination papers can be downloaded from the ‘Useful Documents’ area at the bottom of this page or can be provided in hard copy by Electoral Services ( or 01255 686566).

The nomination period for this will commence at 10am on Monday 8 May 2017. All prospective candidates who want to stand for election must formally submit their nomination by 4pm on Thursday 11 May 2017.

Please note the nomination form and consent to nomination must be submitted by hand and cannot be submitted by post, fax, email or other electronic means. The Acting Returning Officer recommends that Candidates and Agents refer to the Electoral Commission’s guidance before completing the nomination paperwork.
