On Thursday 6 May 2021 there will be a combination of local elections across Tendring.
This will include the postponed Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Election from May 2020, District by-elections for West Clacton and Jaywick Sands and Eastcliff and the scheduled Essex County Council elections. Eight Essex County Councillors are elected from the Tendring District.

A briefing by the Returning Officer and his staff for Agents and Candidates in the Essex County Council election in Tendring District and District by-elections for West Clacton and Jaywick Sands and Eastcliff, will be held at the Town Hall, Clacton-on-Sea on Monday 8 March 2021.
Nomination packs for Candidates to be elected as Councillors on Essex County Council or Tendring District Council are available below. Nomination Papers for candidates must be subscribed by local government electors in the area of the election and the register containing the elector numbers for subscribers was published on 3 December 2020.
Candidates wishing to stand for election are required to submit nomination papers to the Returning Officer during the official nomination period before the election.

The period for receipt of nominations will commence at 8.45am on Monday 22 March 2021. All prospective candidates who want to stand for election must formally submit their nomination by 4pm on Thursday 8 April 2021.
Please note the nomination form and consent to nomination must be submitted by hand and cannot be submitted by post, fax, email or other electronic means. The Returning Officer strongly recommends that Candidates and Agents refer to the Electoral Commission’s guidance before completing the nomination paperwork.
We are offering an appointment system between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, from Monday 22 March 2021, when you can have an informal check prior to formal submission of your nomination papers. Although formal nomination papers cannot be submitted electronically, Candidates are strongly urged to submit a copy of their intended nomination papers by email in advance of their appointment. This will reduce the time required for the appointment and is a safety measure for Candidates and the Returning Officer’s staff
The electorate number that is used to set the maximum Candidate Campaign expenses will need to be that from the register in operation at that time. These electorate numbers for the different elections will be published here on 1 March 2020.

Verification and Count
The Verification and Count for Essex County Election will be held at Clacton Leisure Centre, Vista Road, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex CO15 6DB as soon as practicable after the close of poll on 6 May 2021.
The ballot papers for Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner will also be verified after the close of poll on 6 May 2021.
Please note that attendance at the Verifications and Counts will be via admission ticket from the Returning Officer only and will follow the legal requirements for such attendance.
