Tendring4Growth Breakfast Event - 'The Essex Scrubber'

Wednesday 4th September 2019, 8am to 10am, The Kingscliff Hotel, Holland on Sea, Clacton, free of charge

Christine Beedle MBE is a self-confessed Essex Scrubber. What’s more, she is very proud of it – so proud, in fact, she has written and published two books as testimony to her colourful story.

'The Essex Scrubber', ‘Keeping it Clean’ and ‘Down on her Knees’ have been penned by Christine and they lay the foundations of a remarkable story of business growth, which begins on a small farm in the wilds of Cornwall and tells how Christine went on to build a business, (Colchester-based Monthind Clean, which grew to employ over 850 staff) change the face of the cleaning industry and be awarded an MBE for her services to the industry.

Since Christine’s sale of the business in 2000, Monthind has continued to grow, providing a wide range of specialist cleaning services from its offices in Colchester and Norwich.

Join us together with other businesses to hear Christine's fascinating and inspiring story.

Tendring4Growth Business Week: 'Fuelling Ambition' with Scott Russell

The Tendring4Growth Business Week will launch with a FREE breakfast event in Clacton. Councillor Neil Stock OBE will introduce the Council’s growth ambitions and its plans for the future, as well as welcoming our Guest Speaker, Scott Russell, founder of Paddy & Scotts Coffee. We look forward to hearing from him how he started out with his parents with a stall on Jaywick Market, and how he has now grown his own business into a multinational company.

Tuesday 1st October 2019, 10am to 4pm, Princes Theatre, Clacton, free of charge

If you’re looking for a new job, career or even training opportunities, then this flagship event, now in its 7th year, cannot be missed. Hundreds of jobs will be available on the day with approximately 55 stand holders from both local and national companies exhibiting. New for 2019 is the ‘Hands on Skills Activity’ marquee, where a range of exciting interactive opportunities will be on offer.

Wednesday 2nd October 2019, 8.30am to 10.30am, The Waterfront, Dovercourt, free of charge

Come along to this free breakfast networking event and hear from industry experts from the Energy Sector, including representatives of Nautilus Associates, EDF Energy, Galloper Wind Farm and Greater South East Energy Hub. The event will cover all aspects of macro and micro generation relevant to the East of England, with a particular emphasis on wind, nuclear and micro grid systems. 2 Day Workshop: Improving Your Website's Effectiveness

Monday 4th November and Tuesday 5th November 2019, 10am - 4pm, Town Hall, Clacton, free of charge

This high-impact workshop will give you a practical understanding of how to improve your business' website and create or improve your e-commerce capability. You will understand the power and practical use of Google and other analytical tools to help ensure that your website is working for you. Alongside your increased knowledge and confidence, you will leave with a bespoke Advanced Online Strategy for your business. This workshop is designed for businesses at any stage (start up, established, etc.) but to be eligible they should be based within the Essex Local Authority Area.

Workshop Content: Day 1

  • Building a website and e-commerce capability   
  • An overview of the options available to build or improve your website, with benefits and drawbacks of each.
  • Important aspects to consider in building or improving your website (customer journey, desired outcomes, style reflecting value proposition).
  • Planning for an easy to use, flexible website that will grow with your business

Workshop Content: Day 2

  • Analysing and improving online performance.
  • The power of Google Analytics and how to maximise benefits from it.
  • Introducing online analysis as a key business process.
  • Summarising the learning and activities into a concise “Advanced Online Strategy”

This workshop is being run by First Ascent Ltd and Enterprise Support Alliance Ltd on behalf of the South East Business Boost programme and is free of charge to eligible businesses and individuals.
