How should we involve our communities in the planning process?

Councils are required to have a 'Statement of Community Involvement' (sometimes abbreviated to 'SCI' for short) which explains how residents and other interested parties will be notified, consulted and involved in preparing the Local Plan and considering major planning applications.

On 21st October 2014, the Local Plan Committee approved a new version of the Statement of Community Involvement following a period of public consultation that ran between 23rd May to 7th July 2014, taking into account representations that were received on how communities should be notified, consulted and involved in planning matters in the future.
