Harwich Festival of the Arts 2016

Short Film Festival

Spring Talk: From the Trenches to Tendring

In 2015 the project set out to discover correspondence sent between the people of Tendring and those away during the Great War. The talk will present some of the many letters, cards, photos, diaries and souvenirs that were shared and some of the stories they tell.

Travel back to 1809 as the 95th Rifles and other Napoleonic regiments set up camp around the Martello Tower in preparation for a french assault. 

On Saturday, the battle commences at approximately 3pm. On Sunday, the battle commences at approximately 2pm.

Spring Fair with refreshments and live music. Stalls will include plants, cakes/preserves, bric-a-brac, books, jewellery, toiletries and tombola. The fair is held outside in the large garden which is partly wheelchair accessible but regretfully, the WC is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Display Of Roman Finds From Dale Hall

Manningtree Museum & local history group are holding a public display of some of the artefacts discovered during excavations in early 2015 by the Colchester Archaeological trust  at Dale Hall, Lawford. Along with the finds, other information on the excavation will be displayed. The implications of the Roman settlement on the local history will also be explored and explained.
