The CDRP has recently launched it's new crime busting
Action Plans
which aim to achieve a government set target to reduce crime
and anti-social behaviour by 16% by 2008.
The plans are proactive
but also responsive to constantly changing crime patterns, and
involve multi-partnership co-operation between all main authorities.
New 'face the people' sessions will be organised alongside
Neighbourhood Policing panels to allow local people to have their
views heard.

The CDRP has recently conducted a Community Safety Survey. The
survey highlighted that people are claiming to have experienced less
crime and less anti-social behaviour.
However the public continue to have a disproportionate fear of
crime. in response to the findings of the survey a number of
initiatives in the 2006/07 Action Plans are planned to address the
main crime and disorder priorities you highlighted in the survey.
Take a look at the survey findings and action plans on this site for
more details.

In July 1998 the Crime and Disorder Act came into force and created
Crime and Disorder reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) in England and
Wales. Tendring CDRP is a partnership between Tendring District
Council, Essex Police, the Police Authority, Essex County Council,
Tendring Primary Care Trust and Essex Fire and Rescue Service.
Every three years, the Crime and Disorder Act requires CDRPs to
carry out an audit of crime, drug misuse, Anti-Social Behaviour and
disorder within the district, and prepare a three year Strategy to
reduce its incidence.
The CDRP has completed a comprehensive audit of crime and
drugs within Tendring. The partnership reviewed the findings
to determine the revised priority areas for the new strategy
beginning April 2005. The document contains a summary of the
priority areas identified from the audit with the basic reasons
behind their choice.

The Community Plan for Tendring, 'New Connections', provides a joint
vision for our District looking ahead over five years with an annual
rolling program of action. It charts how to recognise and respond to
the needs of the public and to influence the anticipated challenges
and opportunities facing the area based on co-operation between the
partners.
To improve the
quality of life in the District partners have agreed to work
together on nine key strategic themes. Community Safety is one of
those themes. In our multi-agency approach, co-operation and
information sharing between all the agencies of the partnership is
essential, if we are to achieve our objective to reduce the
incidence and fear of crime and disorder, and to make the area a
safer place to live.
