A proposal to build three new detached homes on paddock land in Ramsey has been turned down.
The outline scheme for the site next to Roborough on Church Hill has been refused by Tendring District Council (TDC).
Ramsey and Parkeston Parish Council strongly opposed the application and came up with 11 objections and there were two other letters of opposition.
The land is outside the village settlement boundary where the TDC looks to conserve and enhance the countryside.
The Council decided the location is not sustainable and in the green gap which needs to be kept free from development.
A TDC spokesman said: “The development is unnecessary and there are no public benefits that might mean the proposal should be considered as an exceptional case.”
The Council has already identified its five year housing land supply.
