Development in rural area vetoed

Monday, 7 August, 2017

A small development of four new homes in a rural area has been turned down.

Balkerne Gate Developments put forward the outline scheme for land south of Plough Lodge in Rectory Road, Weeley Heath.

The 0.29 hectare site is currently a grassed area and is outside the village settlement boundary.

Tendring District Council (TDC) is now in a position where it has identified its five year housing land supply and the proposal is unnecessary.

Weeley Heath, which is almost a mile away, is not well served with facilities and services and is not considered sustainable.

The Council decided the plans were not acceptable in what is a rural location and also went against other policies.

St Osyth parish Council objected and TDC also received one other letter of opposition.
