Decision made to move meetings to after General Election to avoid potential campaigning

Monday, 8 May, 2017

A decision has been taken to move three important Tendring District Council (TDC) meetings to after the General Election next month.

The three meetings are the Local Plan Committee, which will go back to Monday June 12; Cabinet, which will now take place on Tuesday June 13, and Full Council which will be held on Thursday June 15.

All three had previously been scheduled to take place before June 8.

It had become clear that some potential and/or confirmed candidates for the General Election hold leading positions at TDC involving these major campaign issues.

The Chairman of the Local Plan Committee and Leader, together with the Chairman of the Council have reassessed the situation and decided to change the dates.

While the agendas and reports will still be published within the pre-election period they contain only facts and emerging evidence.

It is expected that the alterations will cause minimal impact on the planned consultation period and future Local Plan timetable.
