Monday, 7 August, 2017

Clacton Beach Patrol rescued a windsurfer that had got into difficulty off the town’s beaches this afternoon (Friday).

Team members Rebecca Sewell and Max Bates spotted the problem off the Martello Beach just after midday on Friday.

The kite surfer had become disconnected from his gear and was floating away.

Within a few minutes the beach patrol’s boat was launched with Darren Garrod and Brogan Bates on board.

They managed to rescue the man and bring him ashore where he was checked over to ensure that he was alright.

No medical assistance was required and it was not necessary to call for an ambulance.

The team, which is run by Tendring District Council (TDC), informed Dover Coastguard about the incident.
