Proposed changes to a shopfront in Dovercourt’s Conservation Area have been outlawed by a Government Inspector.
Peter Webb submitted the alterations to 36-38 Kingsway and they were rejected by Tendring District Council (TDC) last year.
Mr Webb went to appeal in an effort to get the application for the shopfront and first floor window agreed but inspector Graham Chamberlain found in favour of the Council.
“The proposal would significantly harm the significance of the Conservation Area,” said Mr Chamberlain. “Its character and appearance would not be preserved.”
