Voter registration review

It's time for the Electoral Registration Officer to review the voter registration details for the property you live in, referred to as the Annual Household Canvass.

The annual canvass to compile the next published Register of Electors, (also known as the voters' roll or electoral roll), started in August 2017.  We are required by law to complete the canvass before we publish the next Electoral Register on 1 December 2017.

We must send Household Enquiry Forms to every residential property in the Tendring district. The form will let householders know who is registered at their address and gather information about any changes to the information we currently hold. It is not a registration form and it cannot be used to make an application to register to vote.  The purpose of the household enquiry form is to collect information.

When you receive the household enquiry form, please carefully check the names and other information printed on it.  If no-one is registered at the address, the form will not contain anyone’s details.

If the information on the form is correct and no-one needs to be added or removed, you can respond to the form in any of the following quick, easy ways:

  • Going online at www.householdresponse.com/tendring and completing the electronic version of the form, or
  • Texting NOCHANGE followed by part 1 and part 2 of the security code printed on the household enquiry form to 80212, or
  • Calling the Freephone number 0800 197 9871 and answering the automated questions, or
  • Completing the printed form and posting it back to us using the pre-paid envelope enclosed with the form

If any of the details are incorrect or if someone needs to be added or removed, you can respond to the form by:

  • Going online at www.householdresponse.com/tendring and completing the electronic version of the form, or
  • Completing the printed form and posting it back to us using the pre-paid envelope enclosed with the form

It is really important that you respond as soon as you can to avoid us having to send reminder forms or an Electoral Registration Canvasser to visit you.  Even if the property is genuinely unoccupied or is a second home, we will need a response confirming this.

The last Register of Electors was published on 1 December 2016. More information about Individual Elector Registration can be found on our Register to vote page.
