What is the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership?

The Crime and Disorder Act came into force in July 1998 and required Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships to be set up in each District in England and Wales. The Act placed an obligation on local authorities and the police, (amongst others), to work together to develop and implement a strategy to tackle crime and disorder in their area.

Under the Act and the subsequent Police Reform Act 2002, Tendring District Council, Essex Police (Tendring Division), Essex County Council, Essex Police Authority, Essex Fire Authority and Tendring Primary Care Trust have been designated 'Responsible Authorities' and are held accountable for this work.

Together they have formed the Responsible Authorities Group to oversee the development of a crime and disorder reduction strategy for the Tendring district.
