FUN IN THE POOL FOR YOUNGSTERS IN DOVERCOURT
Exciting new aqua aerobic sessions for youngsters are creating a
splash at Dovercourt Swimming Pool.
The sessions - for 11 to 16 years-old - have been running for
two weeks and the aim is to build up the numbers taking part.
There is a chance to exercise in the water to upbeat music with
an instructor taking the class.
No one has to book up in advance and it's just case of turning
up on a Wednesday from 3.50pm to 4.30pm and paying the fee of
£2.
Martin Webb, Tendring District Council's (TDC) Pools Manager,
said the sessions had got off to a good start.
"Those who have turned up in the first couple of weeks have
really enjoyed it and had great fun," he said. "Now we want to
increase the numbers taking part over the coming weeks."
Stephen Mayzes, Cabinet Member for Leisure at TDC, said he was
pleased that the new sessions had got off the ground.
"These types of activities at our centres across the District
are all about helping our residents - whatever their age - to
embrace health and well-being opportunities," he said.
"It would be great if we can expand the number of youngsters
taking part in the junior aqua aerobic classes."
Dovercourt Swimming Pool also offers aqua aerobic sessions for
adults on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 to 11.30pm.
