Rotary Harwich Sea Festival

The Quay, Harwich
Another fun filled day is planned on the Quay at
Harwich on Sunday 22 July when the Rotary Club of Harwich and
Dovercourt hold the 2012 Sea Festival, starting at 11am with a
display from the Felixstowe fire fighting tugs.
On the water there will be sailing displays
including the Rebel Trust and displays of disabled sailing, the
marine police will be in attendance with their RIB, the restored
lifeboat James Stevens 14 will be doing trips around the harbour
and the steam tug TIC and Lightvessel 18 will be open to the
public. A number of Thames barges will be alongside and open to the
public, including the magnificent Centaur which will have the
Colchester Pirates on board.
Ashore there will be a display of Rolls Royce's,
the entire Quay will be crowded with stalls and a full days
entertainment, music and theatre will be opened and closed by a
marching pipe band.
The Trinity House Buoy Yard and Jetty will be open
with displays of the work of Trinity House and, operations
permitting, a Buoy Tender will be in attendance.
There will be a raffle with a range of fantastic
prizes for the lucky winners.
The event will be closed by a dramatic display
provided by the Air Sea Rescue helicopter and the RNLI lifeboat
depicting a rescue at sea.
The day is free with free car parking on the Green
at Harwich, a bucket collection and programmes will be on sale to
fund the day and to raise money for the many charitable causes that
Rotary support throughout the
year. |
