DONATED MEMORIAL TREE SCHEME
Tendring District Council provides a scheme for
residents and non-residents to donate memorial trees which are
planted on its areas of public open space, recreation grounds and
greenswards throughout the District. The terms and conditions are
set out below.
Terms and Conditions

Memorial trees will be maintained
from planting until established which will normally be up to five
years. Trees will be supplied in a minimum of a 45 litre container
at an approximate height of 2.5 - 3 metres.

Whilst the Council will try and
accommodate the preference for the tree type and location, it
reserves the right to refuse an application if the preferred
location is unsuitable following a site appraisal. Suggested
varieties are as follows: Oak, Ash, Alder, Lime, Maple and Birch,
this list is not exhaustive and any tree will be subject to
availability.

The charge for the each tree will be
dependant on the size and type of tree requested and will include
all planting costs and will include stakes, compost, ties and up to
five years maintenance. The indicative cost for a tree of this size
with maintenance as above will be £386.00 + vat.

No adornments e.g. flowers at any
time shall be attached or deposited on or near the tree or
surrounding area.

No ashes at any time shall be
scattered or buried near the tree or surrounding area.

The Council will not be held
responsible for the replacement of damaged, missing or vandalised
trees and plaques.

Trees will only be planted during
the period November to March, however applications will be
processed throughout the year.

The Council has no commitment to
accept any application for a donated memorial tree.
Fees and Charges
The charge for donated memorial trees will be
dependant on the type and size of tree requested, however the
minimum size container tree will be 45 litre. The Council will
invoice the applicant once the tree has been planted. Please

Planting
Applications for memorial trees will be processed
all year round. Some applicants may request a planting ceremony,
this can be arranged at no extra cost during normal working hours.
Prior notification of a planting ceremony will be
necessary.
