Arts and Entertainment


The Tendring district has a wealth of arts and entertainment activities including the Princes Theatre, Clacton the largest multi-purpose venue of its kind in this part of North Essex. Owned and administered by the Council the Princes offers a varied programme of entertainment for all the family and a wide range of community activities it is also the home of the prestigious Princes Theatre Youth Company.

The Council also assist the funding of the West Cliff Theatre (Clacton) Trust who are responsible for the production of the district's summer show and a programme of all year round entertainment.

The Council are full members of Arts Council England East and with partners are currently working on the Local Creative Partnership initiative which focuses on West Clacton and Harwich. The Council are also actively involved with Essex County Council on the COAST Art project.

The council is also a funder and partner of the Jaywick Martello Tower project. Situated on The Promenade at Jaywick adjacent to Jaywick Holiday Park, the Jaywick Martello Tower is an exciting new visual arts, heritage and community project, with floor to ceiling curved projection screen for immersive 3D video projections and Wi-Fi connections, The Tower provides a venue for a range of interesting, innovative and enjoyable community based arts and heritage projects.
