Tendring District Council Housing
Strategy
The objective of this strategy is to set out the key housing
issues facing the district by providing detailed evidence based
analysis of needs, demands and expectations. It also looks at the
key influences on the strategy including the impact of national and
regional housing policies and the input from a range of
stakeholders and service users.
The priorities identified to address the issues facing the district
are:
-
identify, develop and encourage new approaches
to tackling homelessness;
-
work in effective partnerships to tackle
antisocial behaviour and the fear and incidence of crime in our
communities;
-
maintain sustainable programmes of investment
that increase the levels of public and private sector housing that
meets the Decent Homes Standard;
-
collaborate with neighbouring authorities and
other stakeholders to ensure that the Greater Haven Gateway sub
region makes a full and positive contribution to meeting regional
and local priorities.

Planning Services has commissioned Fordham Research Ltd to
undertake research for its 'Strategic Housing Market Assessment'.
The Assessment will measure variations in market demand in
different parts of the district, help identify the most appropriate
mix of dwellings tenure, size and type as well as the level and
type of affordable housing required to meet needs. The results of
the Assessment will help the Council formulate its strategy for
building new housing and its policies on affordable housing. For
more information on the assessment please see the document
below.
