Supporting People

The Supporting People programme was introduced by the Government at 1st April 2003 to change the way housing related support is funded, commissioned and monitored across England and Wales. It has replaced the cost of those parts of supported housing not related to housing management/repairs or to personal care that used to be paid though Housing Benefit.

The Supporting People Programme is committed to ensuring that vulnerable people have the opportunity to live more independently. It promotes housing related services which are cost effective, reliable and which compliment existing services and support independent living. In the next 3 years all services will be reviewed to ensure that people are given the correct service and support.

Floating Support Worker Service

Our Floating Support Worker Service can give you the help you need to live independently, it does not matter what type of accommodation you live in. Use the self referral form link below to the Swan Housing Group who run the contract for this service. We can help you:

set up and run your home well: turning on gas; electricity and water; finding furniture; sorting out rent and bills; managing money and claiming benefits; insurance and security; being a good tenant;
make the most of your neighbourhood: finding shops and services; looking for jobs, training or courses; making use of leisure time;
get in touch with extra help: talking about problems; getting expert advice on things like debt, mental health, drugs or alcohol; contacting social services or other organisations

What do you get?
Provided you meet the criteria and there is space for you to come onto the scheme, you'll get your own support worker who'll talk through any problems with you. They'll agree a 'support plan' that tells you what to expect and how often they'll visit.

Our aim is to help you get on your feet and live independently - so, after a time, you won't need us any more! But you can always come back if you need help in the future.
