Free Home Fire Safety Visits and Smoke Alarms
It is very important for the Fire and Rescue Service to arrive
quickly at the scene of a fire. However, it is even more important
for a householder to be warned as early as possible that a fire has
started in their home. Unfortunately, sometimes people,
particularly the elderly and the very young, have died as a result
of a fire even before the Fire Service gets called out.
In order to promote awareness of Fire Safety, the Fire and
Rescue Service is undertaking home fire risk assessments and
supplying and fitting smoke detectors.
Arrangements can be made for a Fire Officer to visit your home
and give advice about fire detection and means of escape in case of
fire relevant to the premises concerned. The Fire Officer can also
install smoke detectors fitted with a 10 year life battery and the
whole service is available free of charge.
If you would like a home visit or are aware of someone,
particularly the elderly or vulnerable, who would benefit from this
service, please either contact the Community Command Home Fire
Safety Section Tel 01206 574255 or complete and forward the
Home Fire Safety Risk Visit Form (pdf
