The Rent Income and Arrears Management Strategy sets out the impact and causes of rent arrears and how we are responding with a review of current practice and recommendations for improvement.

The aims of the Rent Income and Arrears Management Strategy are:

• for top quartile performance in the collection of rent and reduction of arrears to be achieved;
  
  
• to ensure that tenants have the information that they need to maximise their income and prevent or minimise their debt;
  
  
• for tenants to be well informed regarding the transactions and balance of their rent account; and
  
  
• to maximise the opportunities for tenants to pay their rent by offering a wide choice of rent payment methods.
