Tendring District Council Housing Strategy
The objective of this strategy is to set out the key housing
issues facing the district by providing detailed evidence based
analysis of needs, demands and expectations. It also looks at the
key influences on the strategy including the impact of national and
regional housing policies and the input from a range of
stakeholders and service users.
The priorities identified to address the issues facing the district
are:
- address the housing needs of the district by increasing the
supply of affordable housing in urban and rural areas through
effective planning policies and other opportunities;
-
invest in a variety of ways to improve private
sector housing in the district by providing assistance to tenants,
owner-occupiers, landlords and people with disabilities;
-
identify, develop and encourage new approaches
to tackling homelessness;
-
work in effective partnerships to tackle
antisocial behaviour and the fear and incidence of crime in our
communities;
-
maintain sustainable programmes of investment
that increase the levels of public and private sector housing that
meets the Decent Homes Standard;
-
collaborate with neighbouring authorities and
other stakeholders to ensure that the Greater Haven Gateway sub
region makes a full and positive contribution to meeting regional
and local priorities.

Regional Housing Strategy
The Regional Housing Strategy for the East of England 2005-2010
aims to ensure that "everyone can live in a decent home which meets
their needs, at a price they can afford and in locations that are
sustainable". This strategy provides a framework for decision
making and other actions at sub regional and local levels.
The Regional Housing Strategy will be achieved through three key
objectives of delivering more sustainable housing provision, in
high quality homes and environments, creating inclusive
communities.
