This original report was carried out on behalf of Tendring
District Council by Fordham Research in 2002 and it closely follows
the guidance set out by the Department of Transport, Local
Government and the Regions in Local Housing Needs Assessment: A
Guide to Good Practice (July 2000).
In following the DTLR guidance, this survey provided key
estimates on the numbers and types of households in housing need
and how need levels are likely to change in the future. This
information was coupled with an analysis of the supply of
affordable housing to estimate the requirement for affordable
housing. It also provided detail on crucial matters, such as the
types of affordable housing which can meet housing need, and
suggested affordable housing policy responses.
Our 2002 Housing Needs Survey was updated in 2006 and the
estimates of the need for affordable housing revised. The main
changes taken account of relate to changes in the housing market,
local incomes, supply of affordable housing and household
figures.
