Anti social behaviour is a very high profile issue that
takes many forms and its effects can be very damaging on both
individuals and communities. We take complaints of anti social
behaviour very seriously and are committed to taking action against
those people that are responsible for it.
In March 2006, the Council's Cabinet approved the revised Housing
Anti Social Behaviour Strategy that had been developed and produced
in partnership with tenant representatives, the Police and other
stakeholders.
The objectives of our Anti Social Behaviour Strategy
are:
Prevention
To prevent crime and antisocial behaviour by undertaking
improvement schemes and to introduce measures and policies that
will reduce, prevent and deter the opportunity for and incidence
of, crime and antisocial behaviour in the housing stock and
associated assets.
Enforcement
To improve the service to tenants or others reporting antisocial
behaviour and to introduce measures that allow for more effective
and broader based enforcement action against the perpetrators.
Community involvement
To engage tenants and other stakeholders in developing pleasant,
safe communities where antisocial behaviour is recognised as being
unacceptable, where those engaging in such behaviour can be readily
identified and dealt with and to enable and empower tenants to
assist in combating antisocial behaviour.
