Sheltered housing

The accommodation in each sheltered housing scheme usually consists of bedsits or one-bedroom flats, although three of the schemes also have a few bungalows. Each bedsit, flat or bungalow has its own kitchen and sitting room or bedsitting room, and has shared use of the communal lounge, bathroom and laundry facilities. The lounge is often used for social events that you can choose whether or not to take part in.

Our sheltered housing schemes are in the following locations:

  • Groom House, Clacton on Sea
  • St Marys Court, Clacton on Sea
  • Belmans Court, Dovercourt
  • Crooked Elms, Dovercourt
  • Greenfields, Kirby Cross
  • Honeycroft, Lawford
  • Vyntoner House, St Osyth
  • Mead House, Walton on the Naze
  • Spendells House, Walton on the Naze
  • Kate Daniels House, Weeley

To apply for sheltered housing, complete our application form and in section seven, which asks for the type of accommodation you are applying for, tick warden-assisted housing. From the information that you give us on this form, we will assess your need for a move to sheltered housing using our points scheme. This gives priority to those in the greatest need and will take into account any medical reasons you have for wanting to move. For more information on housing registration, selection and allocation policy go to the applying for housing page.

Use the links above to take you to each page for more information on the different aspects of sheltered housing.
