Housing for Older People and those with Special Needs

As people get older, their housing needs may change. To help meet these needs, we have 343 bedsits, one-bedroom flats and bungalows in sheltered housing schemes across the district. Sheltered housing is generally for people over the state retirement age and who are still able to lead an independent life, but would like the security of having a Scheme Manager on call if they need one. Each bedsit, flat or bungalow is fitted with an intercom and pull-cord system, and you will also be given an alarm pendant so that you can always contact the Scheme Manager in an emergency. The charge for this service is included in the weekly rent for each property.
