Any person over the age of 16 can apply to join the housing register. It does not matter where you live or how long you have lived in this or another area. However, certain people will not be allowed to join the housing register. Such people will include:

• People subject to immigration control under the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996; or
• People who the Council considers would be unsuitable as tenants because they or a member of their household have been responsible for unacceptable behaviour.
