Council housing is only one way of solving a housing
problem and for many people, it is unlikely that they will be
helped. As an alternative to Council housing, housing associations
can sometimes provide accommodation similar to the Council. There
are several housing associations in the Council's area and in the
majority of cases the Council has nomination rights to their
housing. Where it means earlier rehousing, the Council will
consider nominating you for a suitable vacancy if you have
sufficient priority on the Housing Register. The Council cannot
nominate you to a housing association's register. The Council will
nominate you to a vacant property and only those households with
the highest priority will be nominated.
There is a separate question on the application
form covering housing
associations. |
