We want to work with our tenants and other
stakeholders to develop pleasant, safe communities where anti
social behaviour is recognised as being unacceptable and where
those responsible for it can be readily identified and dealt
with.
To achieve this, we have or
will:
- Use all available resources, including
publishing procedures and service standards to promote responsible
behaviour and develop a culture within communities where anti
social behaviour is clearly defined and recognised as
unacceptable;
- Continue using Mediation and use Acceptable
Behaviour Contracts to encourage parental responsibility and tackle
anti social behaviour in young people;
- Implement a Victims Come First approach
and provide support to vulnerable persons and those who have
suffered domestic violence or hate crime;
- Promote and fund residents' associations and
other tenant or leaseholder groups to encourage social inclusion
and local resolution of problems including the provision of locally
determined improvement budgets;
- Identify candidates for the Housing Service Local Community
Award Scheme which recognises the important role witnesses of anti
social behaviour can have in improving their neighbourhood and
community;
- Support and publicise community based schemes
such as the Tendring's Its Your Voice and
anti social
behaviour reporting line;
- Investigate and introduce more effective
measures to encourage tenants to keep their gardens tidy and well
maintained;
- Review equality and diversity issues in the
context of tackling crime and disorder;
- Repeat the anti social behaviour and fear of
crime survey of all Council tenants. Find out more about the
results of this
survey that we carried out in 2007/08.
