Improvement Schemes


Description

As well as carrying out day-to-day repairs, we have an ongoing programme where we plan maintenance and improvement work in advance and include more than one property at a time. This is known as our planned programme and includes work such as:

  • installing central heating;
  • installing double glazing;
  • kitchen and bathroom improvements;
  • rewiring;
  • re-roofing;
  • annual service of gas heating appliances;
  • installing and maintaining smoke alarms;
  • external decoration every five years; and
  • major structural repairs.

All Councils that still own properties have been set the target of raising the standard of their homes by 2010 by the Government. The need to meet this target, known as the Decent Homes Standard, helps us to plan our major repair, maintenance and improvement schemes.
