Description
The housing register is a record of all eligible persons who
apply to the council for alternative accommodation. The Council
uses the housing register to record the different housing needs of
applicants and to decide who should be offered council or housing
association accommodation. All permanent lettings to council
housing or by nomination to housing association accommodation must
be made from the housing register, including transfer requests from
existing tenants.
An application to join the housing register does not guarantee
that the Council will be able to provide alternative accommodation
and accommodation will only be offered to those with the highest
priority on the housing register.
