Aids And Adaptations To Your Council Home

Description

If you, or a member of your household, have a disability that makes living in your home difficult, we may be able to help you by adapting your home to make it safer or easier to live in. For major works such as showers, hardstandings or ramps or a multitude of adaptations, this will be subject to an assessment of personal needs by an Occupational Therapist in Essex County Council's Community Assessment Team. You will need to contact Adult Social Care. You can contact them by:

  • telephoning 0845 603 7630; or
  • writing to them at:

Social Care Direct
Essex House
200 The Crescent,
Colchester Business Park,
Colchester,
Essex
C04 9QQ

For minor adaptations such as grab rails, kitchen lever taps, flashing doorbells etc, the special needs officer in Housing Services may be able to help and you can contact them using the details below.

Alternatively, if you have a social worker, you could also discuss your needs with them and see if they will refer you.
