Welcome to Housing Services


Tendring District Council's Housing Services is responsible for the management and maintenance of over 3,500 properties in the district, as well as the provision of housing advice and the assessment of housing need . The department is based in the Town Hall in Clacton and is made up of 6 sections as outlined below

The Allocations Section is responsible for identifying housing need within the district; allocating Council accommodation; housing register applications; transfer requests; mutual exchanges; homelessness and housing advice; and special needs housing and adaptations.

The Estate Management Section is responsible for; the appearance of estates; monitoring the communal cleaning contracts; and allocating Council-owned garages and enforcing tenancy conditions.

The Maintenance Section deals with the day-to-day repair of our properties; and managing various service contracts, including those for door entry systems and lift maintenance.

The Rent Control Section is responsible for rent collection; arrears prevention and recovery; and the right to buy.

The Tenant Relations Section is responsible for tenant and leaseholder participation, involvement and consultation; customer care; and promoting new initiatives.

The Administrative Support Section provides financial services and clerical support for all the above sections and is also responsible for Housing Reception.
