Applying to register for social housing
If you would like to register for social housing, there is a
form to
apply on-line and if you would like any help in completing this
form, please telephone our Allocations Section on 01255
686466. |
 |
Please be aware that even if you are
eligible to join the housing register, you may not be offered a
social housing tenancy as we have thousands of applicants and only
those with urgent housing need will have the highest priority and
be considered for any available properties. To see the amount of
vacancies and properties we own in each part of the district,
please read
A guide to council accommodation (pdf document).
If you are:
- having trouble paying your mortgage;
- having a relationship breakdown;
- having trouble with your landlord;
- trouble paying your rent; or
- your parents are asking you to leave your home;
you can make an appointment to see a homelessness and advice
officer by telephoning 01255 686498 or by emailing
housing.services@tendringdc.gov.uk.
They will be able to spend some time with you and let you know what
housing options are available to you. Advice is also available on
our homelessness
pages.
Tendring Homechoice
We have decided that we will not be implementing a choice based
lettings scheme in Tendring. Housing applications will still be
assessed and placed in bands with Band A being the highest priority
band and Band E the lowest. Instead of advertising properties, we
will continue to select households directly from the Housing
Register for properties that become available for letting.
We are also working on a new Housing Allocations Policy which
will make changes on who can apply for housing in this area and how
applications are prioritised. Once a draft of the new policy is
available, it will be placed on this website for you to make
comments as part of the consultation process.
In the meantime, should you wish to discuss any aspect of your
housing application, you can contact Housing Allocations on (01255)
686466 or e-mail us at
housing.services@tendringdc.gov.uk. |
