Essex County Council carries out needs assessments for people with learning disabilities, physical impairments and sensory impairments.

The aim of Community Care services is to promote independent living by helping certain groups of people over 18 years of age to control their own lives as far as possible and have the freedom to join in with the community, with appropriate support. The way to get these services is by an assessment of a person's individual needs. This will look at their circumstances and the risks to their level of independence.
